As we continue to grow our trails, we need to maintain them. We need volunteers to:
- Spearhead a section for trimming/mowing/weeding.
- Walk a section quarterly, and as needed such as after a major storm.
- Report major issues for team help.
- Fix minor issues as needed.
If you’re interested, email the Elkin Valley Trails Maintainer mailbox.
Our area trails are a great place to jog, walk, push a stroller, happen upon long-time friends and more. Invite your friends and pets on a leash to join you. We are happy to say that trash is infrequently seen along on the trail. Please continue to help keep the trail litter-free by picking up and not leaving paper wrappers and cigarette filters. (Please don’t smoke on the trail!)
Be sure to get your pair. Look for long-time EVTA Board members Denise Lyon on the women’s packaging and Bill Blackley on the men’s. Available at local outdoor stores, REI, Great Outdoor Provision Company and more. 100% American made. Thanks to Mt. Airy’s Farm to Feet and their wonderful crew Elkin Valley is now on everybody’s feet!
Sunday October 2, EVTA celebrated the official opening of our new 178-foot bridge. We were blessed by a beautiful fall day with lots of dignitaries, trail workers, and guests. This bridge was a labor of love and hard work. Our Facebook page has the details and many more photos of the event. Come and enjoy. See you on the trail.
Carter Falls is located on 50 acres of private land near Elkin. EVTA is working to make this special place into a park. See the full story.
