EVTA Recieves $25,000 Grant from Lowe’s for Bridges!

Lowe’s Donates Money for E & A Rail Trail Suspension Bridges

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation has awarded a $25,000 grant to Elkin Valley Trails Association for the building of two 90-foot suspension footbridges over Elkin Creek on the E & A Rail Trail.  The funds will help expand the existing trails and greenways to Stone Mountain State Park.

“Lowe’s is committed to recognizing and supporting efforts that enrich the lives of our neighbors and customers,” said Marshall Croom, chairman of Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation.  “By supporting organizations like the Elkin Valley Trails Association, we believe we are contributing to a cause that’s important to our customers and employees and helping build a stronger foundation for the children who will be tomorrow’s employees, homeowners and community leaders.”

The Elkin Valley Trails Association grant was recommended by Lowe’s eight-member Hometown Grants Advisory Committee including representatives from education, recreation and business in the greater Wilkesboro-area communities. The advisory committee reviews applications quarterly and recommends grants to the Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation Board of Directors for final funding decisions. The Foundation has earmarked $300,000 in annual contributions for the greater Wilkesboro area community improvement and public school projects.
