Spring Wildflower Walk, March 17
Daffodils are showing off in your front garden but deep in the woodland gloom secretive fairies are also making their first appearance. This is the season of hepatica, heartleaf, and trout lily, though we may have to kneel to appreciate them.
Join Bill Griffin for a Naturalist Walk on Friday morning, March 17. We will meet at 8:30 at the parking lot on the north side of the Elkin Recreation Center and spend two hours exploring the E&A nature trail. Wear sturdy shoes – we will include the Rustic Trail and Upper Elkin Creek side trail.
Rain or shine! Bring field guides, camera, binoculars, journal . . . and curiosity! And a magnifying glass if you have one.
Group Maximum Limit – set at 21, including the hike leader.
We hope to repeat this hike in April and May to watch the sequence of blooming species and catch the arrival of migratory warblers.
