IMPORTANT CHANGE OF DATE. The naturalist hike has been changed to MAY 19th. We apologise for any inconvenience. Meet at the rec center at 8:30.
Join naturalist Bill Griffin for a hike along Elkin Creek and the E&A Trail on Friday morning, May 19th.
The first hepatica blossom opened on February 17. By the time of our first EVTA nature hike on March 17, only a few hepatica and trout lily remained but the bloodroot was ferocious and abundant. On our second hike, April 14, we found only a single bloodroot but foamflower was everywhere, along with 29 other species! Nature provides an ever changing variety for us to enjoy!
Naturalist Bill Griffin is sure to find many new flowers, fauna and wildlife on our third hike in the series. Always something to discover! Meet in the far parking lot north of the Elkin Recreation Center at 8:30 AM. Dress for the weather and bring binoculars if you have them. 2-3 hours, 3+ miles.
Look….The earliest March and April blooms have faded to seed; what new arrivals will we discover in May?
Listen…. migratory songbirds may be passing through.
Learn…. So many new things to enjoy and appreciate!
Bring field guides, binoculars, notebook, and curiosity!
Rain or shine – RSVP for updates and last minute notices.
